Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop 2013

Welcome to the 5th Annual Spooktacular Giveaway Hop, hosted by I am a Reader, Not a Writer!

The spooks are back in town. Pumpkins are everywhere and Halloween candy is filling the store shelves.

We’re in a new apartment this year, so we wonder whether we will get trick-or-treaters. We also wonder whether or not our lack of knowledge in this area will affect our purchases of Halloween candy! (There are no calories in those little, teeny, tiny chocolate bars, are there?)

living dead dollsMy Halloween book this year is going to be Duck, Duck Ghost by Rhys Ford. At first, I was planning to review it earlier, but when the doll heads tried to smother one of the heroes, my creepy meter went off the scale.

Attack of the Killer Baby Dolls! Doesn’t that sound like a terrific title for a scary movie?

In honor (or memorial, or creep-festing) of Halloween, I will be giving away a $10 Amazon or Barnes & Noble gift card (winner’s choice) to one lucky entrant.

May all your reads be haunting, whether in a spooky way or not!

  2. i don’t like scary ( too chicken i know) but i have been really surprised by the sons of wrath series by Keri Lake Soul ressurected ( book 2) is quite dark and still i couldn’t stop reading

  3. I can’t do hardcore horror, but I loved The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson. Also, Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter was one that freaked me out, which was unexpected because she writes funny YA spy novels.

  4. I don’t like scary movies or books. The only scary thing in a book I can think of is the vampires in Christine Feehan’s Dark Series books. They are nasty 😉

  5. I loved Anna Dressed in Blood. I enjoyed the Paranormal Activity movies! Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. I love Horror movies, always have. I love the scary dolls and that picture you have is great. Have you heard of the Living Dead Dolls? I bought my daughter one for her 16th birthday and she loved it.

  7. I don’t really get into really scary stuff. I do like the TV show, Sleepy Hollow.

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  8. I watch more spooky TV shows than movies. Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Sleepy Hollow are all fabulous…and creepy.

  9. Dolls and clowns **shudders**. Scary and I are not on good terms. A Simone St. James book is about as close as I get.

  10. I love anything and everything by Stephen King, both books and movies! The Stand would have to be my favorite though

  11. I love the movie Rest Stop. It scared the crap outta me. I refuse to stop at them now unless it is full of people.

  12. I have so many favorite books, so I couldn’t list them all. My fave go to classic is Halloween (the original, not the crappy remake) and Night of the Living Dead the original and the 1989 remake. I love ghost stories though. Anything with the creep factor!

  13. I don’t read many scary stories, but I did like The Old Willis Place by Mary Downing Hahn. Thanks for the great giveaway! 🙂

  14. 172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad is one of the most terrifying books I have ever read. It is hard to even explain what it is about without giving too much away, but it creeped me out for days after I finished it!

  15. One of the most terrifying movies I’ve ever seen is called Frailty. It has Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey. So creepy!

  18. The doll you featured reminded me how much I disliked the Chucky movies, yes my brother made me watch them all with him. Nightmares for that one I tell ya!

  20. I don’t typically find movies scary. I like Wrong Turn because I watched it with my parents ages ago, and it scared my mom pretty badly 😛 Also, that Halle Berry movie where she’s a 911 operator. I have nightmares involving kidnapping, so that one with its soundtrack got to me.

  23. I am in love with the Demonata Series by Darren Shan. It is a great read for the season. These books will keep you up at night. I just wish there was a way to make this into a movie. I think that it would be best horror of the year.

  24. I generally stay away from scary stuff but The Mayfair Witches series by Anne Rice gave me a bit of a scare years back.

  25. I’m a fan of psychological horror, not gore, so my favorite scary movies tend to be old B&W films, like The Birds or Rear Window.

  26. My favorite scary movie is The Conjuring and my favorite scary book…I think it’s too hard to choose! Maybe Night Shift by Stephen King.

Thanks for the chance to win!
