Unbe-Leaf-Able September to Remember Giveaway Hop

unbe leaf able september to remember giveaway hop

Welcome to the UnBe-Leaf-Able September to Remember Giveaway Hop, hosted by The Kids Did It and The Mommy Island.

Spring is Sprung,
Fall is Fell.
Here comes Summer and it’s
Hotter than…last year.

A terrible poem, but easy to fall into its rhythm. Unofficially, Fall is definitely fell, even if the official first day of Fall is a week away. And even if you live somewhere in the U.S., like I do, where Fall mostly means that the daily high temperatures finally drop below 90, and the daily lows finally begin to dip into the 60s. Or the other way around. When I lived in Anchorage, Sept. 21 could be the beginning of winter. Complete with snow!

In Anchorage, this would be the time of year when the regular Autumn ritual was to switch to studded tires. I don’t miss that.

It’s also when school officially or unofficially begins. Some places start earlier now, and some colleges still start a bit later, but crisp fall days always carry with them the memory of starting school and hoping for great teachers and interesting things to learn. Sometimes those hopes are fulfilled, and sometimes the enthusiasm wears off more quickly than in other years. And sometimes we remember those days fondly and think that adulting isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

But this giveaway hop celebrates whatever you want to think of best about fall. For me, it just means more opportunities to curl up with a good book. So I’m giving away the winner’s choice of a $10 Gift Card from Amazon or a $10 Book of the winner’s choice.

Happy Fall. May all your apples be crisp, and all your leaves be crunchy!

  1. Every year we’d come home from the store with our new supplies, spread them out on the kitchen table and start labeling them with a brand new jet black Sharpie. We’d rip the thin plastic wrap off of our packs of freshly-milled paper and put it into our three ring notebooks.

  2. First , it’s the lower temps. 🙂 For years it was the school clothes and school supply shopping for my 7 children. Now they are doing so for their own. Now it’s more time to read my favorite books.

  3. I love fall 🙂 I love the colors, the coolness, pumpkin spice!, and being able to wear warm, comfy clothes. It gives me the excuse to sit at home, with a book, hot chocolate, and my dog curled under a blanket in my lap 🙂 thanks for sharing!

  4. I love back to school shopping, both for clothes and supplies! I didn’t do much this year because I really didn’t need anything but I still love wandering around the school section 🙂

  5. My favorite thing about fall is bringing in my cactus and house plants to get ready for winter. I get to redecorate and find new places to put all of them and sometimes I have to be clever to make them all fit! Then there’s the cooler temps, long walks, cozy coats and my favorite boots and can’t forget about pumkin spice lattes!

  6. Don’t have kids, so I don’t have to worry about back to school. However, I do love the fall. Mostly because of the cooler weather. No real rituals, though!

  7. I love going shopping for fall clothes. Even if I only buy a couple of pieces, it really helps get us into the school/fall mood.

  8. My favorite Fall tradition is going apple and pumpkin picking with my daughter. Then we make homemade applesauce.

  9. For me fall means wearing all of my pretty colorful sweaters that I like. Cool air and pecan pie! Ok maybe some pumpkin goodies thrown in but mostly the pecan pie every chance I get it. I wish I could eat it every day of my life.

  10. As I get older, I appreciate fall more. Not a ritual, but I do like the cooler (not cold!) temps and being able to leave the windows open, etc. It’s a very busy period at work, tho, so I really don’t get to enjoy it as much as I’d like.

    (Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.)

  30. Every year since I was very little girl, my family goes to an amazing apple orchard. We catch a hayride through the orchard, come back to the main barn, have an apple turnover (a la mode!) and a cup of cider (hot, depending on the weather). Then we pick out some goodies to take home from the bakery, grab a couple 1/2 pecks of apples and a gallon of cider, and drive home through the scenic route to see the fall color. (The orchard we go to isn’t pick-your-own. Many people don’t know how to properly pick apples, and often damage the trees.)
