Why is it, when someone says the word “spooky”, I still hear the theme song from the old Addams Family TV show in my head?

OMG, now I have an earworm. That may be even creepier than any ghost story.

But speaking of ghost stories, what do you think of ghost romances? I’m still not quite sure. Stacey Kennedy’s Supernaturally Kissed was wonderful, but her ghost turned out to not quite be a ghost. On the other hand, the ghost romance in Karen Robards’ books, The Last Victim and The Last Kiss Goodbye well, I’m still not sure. A psychiatrist who studies serial killers in love with the ghost of a, you guessed it, serial killer. This can’t end well. Can it?

  5. the legend of sleepy hollow is the only scary book I have read. I tend to not read that genre.

  10. My favorite “spooky” book has always been The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by American author Washington Irving. Although it’s only a short story I can still remember my father reading it to my sisters and I the weeks before Halloween. We’d sit in front of the fireplace on the floor in front of his chair with the warm fire burning behind us and the cold winds blowing outside and rattling the windows.

    I can also remember sitting in front of a camp fire with my husband and our sons with that same look on their faces while he read them the story and would remember my own Dad once again from all the years ago. Today it’s our grandchildren who gather round this time of year and still love to hear that same story while they sit there in front of the same fireplace where their fathers sat so many years ago.

  39. When I was in high school i did a book report on The Shining as it for me was so scary it needed to write about it to get it out of my head lol

  52. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read a spooky or scary book. But I definitely am willing to read one. I loved all of Stephen King movies but I’ve never picked up his books. 🙁 Hope you have a wonderful Halloween and thank you for the giveaway.

  61. I have had more fun reading children’s spooky books with my kids that anything. I haven’t read many adult spooky books, and none come to mind at this moment. As soon as I hit enter, I will probably remember one. 🙂

  62. I always mention It, Salem’s Lot, or The Shining, by Stephen King; but the truly the scariest book (also by King) is Pet Sematery. It was so scary I’ve never been able to re-read it. I’ve read virtually all of his books more than once, but NOT that book (or Cujo, but that’s for a different reason). It is just wrong in so many ways.     Last Halloween(ish) time, I read Laura Bickle’s The Hallowed Ones. It was perfect for the time of year and enough to have me on edge!

  89. I haven’t read many spooky books but a few months back I read “The Unquiet” by Jeannine Grasse about a haunted school pool and I loved it! Had me on the endge of my seat from page one 🙂

  92. I would have to say The shining or The Amityville Horror which was one of the first scary books I had read.

  99. I don’t read many spooky books so I don’t have a favorite. I like books with vampires. I’m reading the Morganville vampires series which I really like.

  101. I don’t read many spooky books but I did enjoy Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury many years ago.

  114. I have to say Stephen King’s The Mist was the spookiest book I have read. Spooky romance seems too impossible to offer up a happy ending, so I haven’t tried any at all.

  133. Those old school Scary Stories books. I havent read them in forever but those were sssooooo creepy!
