Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop

Freedom-to-Read-Hop

Welcome to the Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop hosted by Bookhounds and I Am a Reader, Not A Writer!

In the U.S., this Friday is the Fourth of July holiday. For a change, it is even a 3-day weekend for most people. As much fun as 3-day weekends usually are, I suspect that July 4 is one holiday that is not going to be magically switched to the nearest available Monday. The date is too important.

There will be parades, and lots of people will have picnics. Then there are the fireworks. We’re supposed to be able to see the Seattle fireworks from the roof of our building, but we’ll see.

The gentlemen who gathered in Philadelphia 238 years ago had absolutely no idea that we’d still be celebrating the document that they signed all these years later. They were more afraid they’d all be hung for signing it.

Ben Franklin would have loved all the fireworks.

  1. Happy 4th of July, everyone!

I’ll be going to my brother’s house for the weekend. My sister and her husband are also making the long drive up, as well. I just hope Tropical Storm Arthur doesn’t cause too many problems.

  2. i don’t live in the US so it will be a normal weekend for me i do hope to have more time to read that i had lately though and perhaps if our football( soccer) team win its match on saturday there will be a lot of party ( and fireworks^^)

  3. We celebrate not only the 4th of July by going to Old Mountain Field to watch the fireworks (which my younger son thought were for him when he was 3 since it’s his birthday!).

  4. On the 4th, almost the whole town meets up at our park. There are a lot of games for the kids and the older people just sit around and talk while we wait for the fireworks to start. It’s a lot of fun… except for the bugs! The downside is that when the fireworks end everyone practically stampedes back to their cars! And mind you some of us park at least a mile away. Other than that it’s a really fun day in our county.

  5. We will have an extended family BBQ and fireworks.

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
