Stuck in a Good Book Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Stuck in a Good Book Giveaway Hop, hosted by Stuck in Books!

So, what books have you been stuck in lately? Books are like potato chips, you can’t read, or love, just one.

Most recently, the book I got seriously stuck in was Provenance by Ann Leckie. I couldn’t put it down, and was sneaking into the bathroom at work to read just a few more pages off my iPhone. And I don’t really like reading on my iPhone. I just know this book is going to be on next year’s Hugo ballot, because I can’t imagine I’ll be the only person nominating it.

As always, there are just a couple of books that have gone above and beyond an A grade right up into A+. One of those for me, this year, was The Guns Above by Robyn Bennis, which was just a perfect blend of steampunk, heroine’s journey, military sf and outright snark. I just loved this one from beginning to end, and really, really hope its the beginning of a series.

On the romance front, this year’s hands-down winner was Ilona Andrews Hidden Legacy series. Even though I didn’t remember reading the first book, Burn for Me, several years ago, as soon as I picked up Wildfire I was right back in the thick of it. Wildfire and the series finale, White Hot, completely sucked me in and left me with one hell of a book hangover.

Last but very definitely not least, Embrace the Romance, Pets in Space 2. This is a huge collection of science fiction romance novellas, and so far, all the ones I’ve read have been awesome. But there is so much to love in this book that I still have plenty left to get lost in.

So, what book or books have you been stuck in recently? Answer the question in the rafflecopter for a chance at either a $10 Gift Card or the book of your choice (up to $10).

  1. Thanks for the giveaway; right now I am stuck on A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah Maas. 🙂

  2. I’ve been stuck in Cat to the Dogs by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. I am re-reading the series. Appreciate the chance for the gc. It will help reduce my TBR

  3. I’ve never read Adam Nevill, but people sure love this guy. I recently acquired his novel, The Ritual, and it sounds right up my alley and I can’t wait to dig in. Same goes for his latest novel, Under a Watchful Eye, released in January. The synopsis promises a healthy dose of paranoia with supernatural elements that begins with a writer being trolled by fake reviews. That sounds hilarious and potentially very creepy.

  4. I just found Mary Alice Monroe and her Low Country series. Can’t believe I only just found them. But read them all back to back.

  5. Mystery novels! The PMS Murder, Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun, and In Deep Voodoo 🙂

  6. I’m reading mysteries by Lisa Gardner. She has a few loosely connected series , and right now I’m stuck on Killing Hour.

  7. I didn’t mean to do it, but I glommed the entire Sebastian St. Cyr series on audiobook, just finishing up the last one about an hour ago. I’d previously read all but the last two and it was a lot of fun revisiting/catching up. Now I’m kind of floundering around, trying to decide what to start next.

  8. Several amazing ones: Wild & Sweet by Rhenna Morgan, Archangel’s Viper by Nalini Singh, & Wildfire by Ilona Andrews just to name a few.

  9. Black Bird of the Gallows by Kassel. Really enjoyed reading about bee keepers and harbingers.

  10. I have currently been stuck in the book called Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren.

  11. Over the last month or so, one of the books that really had me eager to get back to reading it every time I put it down was Young Jane Young by Gabrielle Zevin, I just thought it was so creatively written and had great female characters.

  12. I’m currently reading The Six Wives of Henry VIII by Alison Weir. It’s a great book. At school I didn’t pay too much attention to history…now I can’t get enough of it!

  13. I am on my third book by Sarah J. Maas’s series (A Court of Wings & Ruin) and really can’t wait for more!!!

  14. I’ve been marathon reading The House of Brady series books by Kieran Kramer. Love her work and these books are so much fun. And yes, that is a take-off on the Brady Bunch TV program. Names are the same, including Alice, the housekeeper but all are set in the 19th century!

  15. I don’t read books in any particular order or “what’s hot” or the newest release, or any list. I have my own stack at home and just read from my stack. The last book I read that I was stuck in was The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich 🙂

  16. I haven’t read a bad book in a long time. I get stuck in cozy mysteries and romantic suspense!!!

  17. I just finished the coronor’s lunch – then had to go start the next one in the series immediately!
