May I Suggest Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the May I Suggest… Giveaway Hop, hosted by Stuck in Books.

The theme of this hop is suggesting books to people. Specific people, as in, those of you who are reading this post and participating in the giveaway.

I participated in this hop last year, and came up with a set of books I’d still highly recommend, depending on what kind of book floats your boat. I’d add a few things, but then, there’s been a whole year’s worth of books since then. If you’re interested in romance, particularly angsty romance, I’d recommend Alisha Rai’s Forbidden Hearts series, starting with Hate to Want You. And if you want some good, snarky urban fantasy, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne, starting with Hounded. The audio of the Iron Druid Chronicles is particularly good.

What about you? If someone asked you to suggest a book or two, what titles could you not resist shoving into their hands. Fill out the rafflecopter with your answer for your chance at a $10 Amazon Gift Card or a $10 Book from the Book Depository.

  1. I would suggest any book by Donna Andrews for a funny cozy mystery read

  2. It always changes according to my current faves but some all timeers are the Kate Daniles series, Red rising and the River of time series.

  3. For this month I’d say Nantucket Wedding. A delightful read. One of my favorites lately was Every Note Played by Lisa Genova. Amazing.

  4. It depends on the person ; but I do recommend books by Patricia Briggs a lot. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway.

  5. “What your favorite book to suggest to your fellow readers?” “Coinman” by Pawan Mishra.

  6. Depending on what genre they like…Don’t Say A Word, by Jennifer Jaynes is a great psychological thriller 🙂

  7. I just finished The Belles of Desire,Miss. by ML Bullock ( she is a new author to me) and I really enjoyed it!!!

  8. Gosh, it depends on the genre. For UF, I’ve recently been enjoying Jodi Taylor’s The Chronicles of St. Mary’s–hilarious and heartbreaking. For a classic historical fiction, I’d go with Sharon Kay Penman’s The Sunne in Splendour.

  9. I just recommend books that I’ve read and liked, not necessarily a favorite. For instance, I just finished Darkstorm by M.L. Spencer. Very good.

  10. I always recommend the great Agatha Christie mysteries and of course, The Bible.

  11. I’d recommend Before I Let You Go by Kelly Rimmer, it’s tough subject matter and very emotional.

  12. For the romance lover, I’d recommend Sarah Maclean’s One Good Earl Deserves A Lover

  13. For people reading this post, I would suggest Uprooted by Naomi Novik. Anything by Jeaniene Frost. Anything by N.K.Jemisin. The Last Hour of Gann and Land of the Beautiful Dead by R.Lee Smith. The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. Wolfsong by TJ Klune. Grendel by John Gardner. Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. Sorry, I didn’t see a limit on the number of titles. ; )

  14. I often recommend Finding Nouf by Zoe Ferraris for people who like mysteries set in unusual locations. For general fiction, I recommend Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline or The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George.

  15. The FInal Six by Alexandra Monir was excellent YA/fantasy.Also Desperate Girls by Laura Griffin (which comes out in August),a romantic thriller which was unputdownable!!

  16. I love the Sue Grafton Kinsey Milhone series. I’m so sad that she couldn’t get to “Z.”

  17. I recommend a very old book-“Alas, Babylon” by Pat Frank.

  18. I always suggest We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. Such an exciting read!

  19. Just finished the latest in her series: Queen Anne’s Lace By Susan Wittig Albert
    Thanks for the contest.

  20. The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. Just finished it with my book club. Most of us said we could not put it down .

  21. Its always Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier and Angelfall by Susan Ee.

  22. I would suggest anything by Joe Abercrombie or Mark Lawrence. I love the fantasy genre.

  23. “Still Life” by Louise Penny. If you haven’t read it, pick it up right away!

  24. Funny – I’ve just culled Hounded from my TBR list… oh well. I’d recommend Daemon by Doug Dandridge. It’s taken far too long for me to get around to it, and it was brilliant.

  25. Tastes differ too much to offer much advice on what to read, but if someone asks about a particular book and it is one I have read and like, or an author I like, I will tell them that.

  26. I would recommend Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades,#2) by E. L. James.

  27. My favorite book to recommend is an older book – Breathing Lessons by Ann Tyler.

  28. I am reading The Widening Circle: A Lyme Disease Pioneer Tells Her Story by Polly Murray

  29. I like reading the book In Perfect Harmony by Laura DeLuca and recommend it.
