The Cat’s Meow Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the The Cat’s Meow Giveaway Hop,  hosted by The Kids Did It and The Mommy Island.

Not all cats actually “meow” – or even make a sound remotely equivalent. Our current clowder certainly doesn’t.

Both Freddie and Hecate “cry”. It’s kind of a whine that seems to either mean, “Where are you, my human?” or “Where am I, I’m lost and can’t find you.” Mind you, they are lost and can’t find us while we’re all in the same house. Lucifer, on the other hand, is a silent little demon. He doesn’t make much noise at all, and he certainly doesn’t meow or cry or whine. He still has plenty of ways of letting us know that we’ve been “stupid humans” and that he wants something right now.

Speaking of cats wanting things right now, My very first cat meowed. He also screamed, quite loudly. And he could say “now”, except he usually said it as “NOW!” at high volume. His name was Licorice, he was the cat of my heart, and thinking of him still makes me tear up. It’s been 25 years since he went to the Rainbow Bridge, and I still miss him.

Not that Lucifer doesn’t do his best to console me as often as felinely possible. He’s the first cat since Licorice where I’m his person. There have been plenty of others in our life, and I’ve loved them all, but for the most part they have loved Galen best and that’s okay.

On a cheerier note, here’s something definitely feline related that once you’ve seen it you can’t unsee. Also it’s true. The word “homeowner” has MEOW in the middle. Home for us is where the cats are.

But to celebrate ALL the pets in your lives, fill out the rafflecopter for a chance at your choice of $10 Amazon Gift Card or a book up to $10 from the Book Depository. And it doesn’t even have to be about cats!

  1. I’ve always had dogs myself but my niece runs the local cat rescue in her town. As a family, I guess we’re both.

  2. I’ve always been much more of a dog person, but I absolutely love my best friend’s cats, and they are definitely affectionate towards me as well.

  3. “Are you a cat person or a dog person?” I am mostly a cat person, but dogs are very nice, also!

  4. I’m more of a dog person since I’m allergic to cats. My parents have a cat that I love though! She seems to think she is a dog. Its hilarious!

  5. I love cats and dogs both, as well as all other furry critters. I have a dog right now that is not friendly with other animals so I can’t really get another pet but I would love to have a Chinese Crested (the hairless variety…not the powder puff) and a hairless cat…what a pair they would be!

  6. Definitely a cat person although I like dogs also. The biggest problem is that I’m wildly allergic, so can’t have any pets at all.

  7. I honestly like both equally. I don’t have the time for a dog right now with my crazy schedule. So I currently have 2 cats!

  8. I am a both person plus lots of other animals person lol but if I had to choose I would go with cat person.

  9. I am what we call an Animal Person. 🙂 We have 3 dogs and 1 cat… oh and don’t forget 2 teenagers. lol

  10. At the moment I have two cats and in the past dogs. The older I get I enjoy cats more as they don’t require that much attention and can mostly look after themselves.

  11. Although I like both, I am definitely a cat person! Cats are my favorite animal along with elephants.

  12. I’m both. But, currently, I have 2 cats. We lost my dog a few years ago and everything we went through with him for cancer treatment has made it very difficult to even think about getting another dog.

  13. I am definitely a cat person. I fostered a family of kittens after taking in a stray last year.
