Stacking the Shelves (386) + Giveaway

Stacking the Shelves

Today is the actual OMG 9th anniversary of the first post on Reading Reality. Writing this blog is turning out to be the longest “job” I have ever held. And what a wild, strange trip it’s been, but never more so than this year. While I think we’ll all be glad when life turns into whatever the new normal is going to be, I’d like to think that the reviews and features here at Reading Reality are giving readers at least a few suggestions on what to read to take your minds off the current crisis. A book is always a great way to get away from it all when you have to physically stay put.

I have a couple of final giveaways. Today I’m giving away a $25 Barnes & Noble Gift Card. And I will tomorrow, too. These are gift cards that I happen to have and have never used, and this feels like a good time to share the wealth of books with a couple more lucky readers of this blog. To thank you all for your comments, support and readership over the past 9 years.

Here’s to 9 more!

  1. My favorite comfort read is first my daily devotional. Then any novel in wich the characters have made me love them and root for them is a great comfort to me.

  2. I don’t have a favorite comfort read. I’m just comforted by whatever read I am currently enjoying.

  3. Happy anniversary and thanks for the giveaway. My favorite comfort reads are usually paranormal romance or mysteries.

  4. I like the novels of Jack Kerouac. His travels and adventures in the 1940s and 50s make me feel relaxed and hopeful. Thanks

  5. Happy Anniversary! Nine years is a great accomplishment! I’m afraid I haven’t been doing much reading. I hope April will be better for me. My comfort reads vary depending on what I need comfort from. Sometimes a good romance, or an engaging unputdownable mystery, add in urban fantasy or paranormal and even better. You have always been a good source for book recommendations and I enjoy following your blog. I hope you enjoy your new books! Several of them are on my wish list or TBR too. I’m excited about Dragon Unleashed. I enjoyed the first book. I haven’t heard of Creatures of Charm and Comfort before, but I love that cover. It sounds like a good start to promising new series as well. I will have to give that one a try.

I hope you have a good weekend, Marlene. Stay safe and well.

I’m really enjoying reading my favorite children’s classics to my daughter right now. We read The Secret Garden recently and have been spending a lot of time in our little garden.
