Christmas in July Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Christmas in July Giveaway Hop this week, this time hosted by Review Wire Media and Chatty Patty’s Place!

According to Wikipedia, “In the Northern Hemisphere, a Christmas in July celebration is deliberately ironic.” I can certainly see that, especially since Christmas in July is also literally a Hallmark holiday as the channel runs blocks of their winter Christmas programming in July to coincide with the release of coming holiday’s Keepsake Ornaments. Yes, it IS a racket if you think about it even a little.

Not that the ornaments aren’t adorable. I know that if I had a tree I’d have a huge collection of the Star Trek themed ornaments by now.

What do you think of the idea of “Christmas in July”? Answer for your chance at a little bit of hot holiday cheer, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books.

  1. I love Christmas in July for many reasons…as the weather gets hot and humid, I long for the crisp and cold days of winter and for the bargain prices on many of the coveted items that go on sale during the holidays. I have also been known to watch Christmas movies during the summer and to hum Christmas carols while I am working

  2. I think it is fun and I get to watch Hallmark Christmas movies. It gets me in a better mood 🙂

  3. Christmas in July sounds expensive but I do like the idea of receiving gifts halfway through the year.

  4. I’m not a big fan of it. These days I do good to be able to do anything on real Christmas.

  5. I like Christmas in July because it’s a distraction from the heat and humidity.

  6. I love Christmas in July. I haven’t had a chance to watch any Christmas movies yet. I have however bought a couple of ornaments for a new tree. Plus as you said Hallmark starts releasing their new ornaments for the holiday.

I’m a big fan of Christmas. My husband has finally seen the benefit of shopping early and preparing.

  7. I love Christmas and the feeling it brings with it. Why not bring it into a time of year when people are running all over. I also the the fact that this is a time to perhaps find gifts for that time of year that are not to be found then.

  8. I don’t mind it. With all the commercialness I still enjoy Christmas quite a bit.

  9. I love it! We all need a little more cheer, sharing and happiness in our lives! Thanks for sharing and have a marvelous weekend!

  10. To me it is just a reminder to start shopping for Christmas and getting ideas.

  11. It’s fun however in the Midwest the winters are super long and I try not to think about winter in the summer lol.

  12. I love Christmas in July! I would rather celebrate around a bonfire than a fireplace.

  13. It’s cute, though I don’t think I want to see Christmas movies all month…

  14. I think it’s just another way for stores to try sell more stuff. I get enough of Christmas in December. I do look for deals on items that I’m interested in for my self or for Christmas presents.

  15. I prefer to celebrate Christmas in December because of the whole festive vibe and the cold weather. But I wouldn’t mind learning more about what Christmas in July is all about.

  16. There’s a bittersweet meaning to it. When I worked in Dietary, the Hospital held a Christmas in July for a terminally ill boy – complete with all the Christmas decorations. It was my job to invent a treat for him; since he loved hot cocoa, I came up with a fortified version.

  17. I love giveaways just wish maybe it was called something else. Christmas is in December and I don’t like taking away from that.

  18. I love the idea of Christmas in July, makes it so we get to experience the magic of Christmas twice a year instead of just once.

  19. I think it’s fun. I’ve been doing a lot of my Christmas shopping this summer

  20. I like the idea of getting a head start on Christmas shopping and watching holiday movies this time of the year.

  21. I think in a large family, it is ideal. I see nothing wrong with literally having Christmas in July. For the rest of us, it’s fun and a nice break from the heat!

  22. I’m not all “bah, humbug” about it, but do think it’s mostly just another way to get people to spend money. That said, it’s a good time to check for sales on items you already had on your list.

  23. I am loving Christmas in July, and I like that so many channels have Christmas movies on right now.

  24. Seeing the picture of the snowman makes me feel just a bit cooler in this 100 degree heat.
    Thanks for the contest.

  25. I think it’s a fun idea and I love when there are sales so I can start shopping early for Christmas

  26. To me Christmas stuff is for December, but if it lifts someone’s spirits to have a little of that Christmas feeling in July I have no problem with it, it’s just not for me.

  27. I like “Christmas in July”! It makes me feel ‘mentally cooler’ in the hot weather. And it makes me start thinking of gifts I’d like to give friends/family when the holidays DO roll around. And a lot of Christmas in July involves sale prices, which is always a good thing!

  28. I think it’s a great idea. I usually begin my Christmas crafts and crocheting. Never too early when things are handmade. Takes time.

  29. Last week I Had A Christmas In July Luncheon for 10 of my girlfriends I have known for over 40 years. My table was decorated in my Spode Christmas Dishes and for the drink of the day was my spiked homemade eggnog. Such a fun time!

  30. I like the idea! Christmas is my favorite holiday so why not celebrate it twice a year? Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  31. I have never celebrated Christmas in July, but I love the promotions and giveaways that come with it.

  32. I love the idea of Christmas in July. We all need more days to celebrate!

  33. I think its a sweet idea that brings lots of smiles. And I enjoy remembering cold temperatures during stormy 90 degree days.

Thanks for the giveaway 🙂 !

  34. I always think things like this are great if they make people happy. Christmas is such a mood lifter for most people so I think it is nice, “Christmas in July”.

  35. It’s Great and it’s really when I start shopping to slowly get all the deal before x-mas you got to start early!

  36. I think its a great idea 🙂 . More time for Christmas movies, a cheerful and heartwarming distraction from summer heat, and a reminder to start planning (and budgeting) for Christmas presents.

My only complaint is it doesn’t include people selling eggnog (at least not where I live) 🙁 .
