Stacking the Shelves (659)

It feels like I JUST did this – only because I did. We’re away at the moment so this was prepared ahead and I’m trying hard not to say the same things I said in last week’s Stacking the Shelves. OTOH, it IS kind of the same thing even if it isn’t the same books. Because I try really hard not to get the same titles multiple times – although I can’t say it’s never happened!

I’m also not sure we’re quite at ‘pretty’ for many of this week’s covers. Or possibly, that there are a few that LOOK pretty but if pretty is as pretty does, well, they aren’t. I’m thinking particularly of Coram House and High Season, because both cover scenes look kind of idyllic but the blurbs all tell you that terrible things are going to happen. Selkie is the only really pretty cover, IMHO.

Howsomever, there are plenty that I’m looking really curious about in this batch, including The Harvey Girls, Ink Ribbon Red and Too Old for This, while the book I’m most looking forward to reading is The Society of Unknowable Objects.

What’s in your stack that you can’t resist this week?

  1. Corem House’s cover actually creeps me out. That empty boat in the middle of the lake? I’m not even looking at that blurb.

I hope enjoy the trip that took you away from your blog.

  2. I read High Season. I’ll be interested to see what you think of it. The Society of unknowable objects does sound intriguing. For me, the most interesting cover belongs to Lucky Day. Happy reading!
