Hecate was getting jealous because the past two week’s pictures were both of Luna – and Hecate doesn’t like that. She IS our little #grumpycat and absolutely convinced that she is the ‘Queen of All She Surveys’. She’s also nowhere near convinced that Luna is ‘The Princess of Quite A Lot’ but even if she is, a Queen outranks a mere Princess.
This week’s reads ended with a very good surprise. I’m not at all sure what I thought There Is No Antimemetics Division would turn out to be (and if the book is true I wouldn’t remember anyway) but it was completely absorbing and surprisingly good. Also utterly terrifying right up until it squeaked out a rather satisfying and very science fictional ending.
Moving on to other SF reads, I’m three stories into my annual Hugo short work reading and reviewing, and so far the stories have been extremely thought-provoking but not necessarily fun. But the fun is coming with this week’s review of Kaiju Agonistes by Scott Lynch. Not that I don’t expect SF stories to be thought-provoking, but I do like a little fun to relieve the tension!
And June reaches its midpoint this week. Time is certainly flying!
