This week’s readings were not just generally good, but two of them absolutely blew me away. I was NOT surprised by how much I enjoyed The Tailor. I was expecting it because the series has just been so damn good. But I’ve been fortunate that the whole series was released here really close together so I didn’t have to wait between books. Now that we’ve caught up with the series over here, it’s going to be a LONG wait until book 9 comes out next summer.
A Thousand Painted Hours is another book that I expected to be good. I’ve enjoyed many of the author’s earlier works and was looking forward to this one. But this book was something magical and special. The mix of romance and history was just marvelous. It reminded me a Outlander in a way, not that it’s the same setting, but it feels like a similar broad scope and was similarly compelling. Confined to merely one doorstop sized book instead of nine (or more)!
Today’s cat feature belongs to Miss Hecate, the queen of all she surveys. When this picture was taken, she was clearly looking up surveying Galen as he took her picture, even as he was looking down at her!
