Stacking the Shelves (723)

There are several really pretty covers in this stack. Which makes for a VERY pleasant change! Particularly as they are not all pretty the same.

I’m looking at The Bookbinder & the Thief, The Flower Court, The Memory of Borrowed Books, No Good Deed and Throne of Frost and Flame and they are all beautiful in their own ways. A Complement of Scoundrels isn’t precisely pretty, but it has a kind of orderly complication combined with meticulous drawing that I also like a lot.

The one I picked up just for the title is I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell, because there has to be a story behind that title and I’m really curious about it, along with A Complement of Scoundrels. The book I’m most looking forward to reading is Holmes Away from Home because I can NEVER resist a Sherlock Holmes story and this one certainly looks promising. (We’ll all find out this week if it lives up to its subject!)

This time around there are three I’ve already read, Blaze, The Bookbinder & the Thief, and Mickey Prime. I enjoyed all of them quite a bit, something that was a complete surprise in regards to Blaze. (I hated Haven. I mean that seriously. That one ended up being a rage read/listen and thank goodness it was short.) I’ve never read her best known novel, Room. But I liked Blaze considerably more than I expected and would recommend it to anyone who liked H is for Hawk or Palaces of the Crow – although that is far from all there is to the story.

What’s caught your eye in YOUR stack this week?
