I’ve started saving all the creepy covers for Halloween. It’s amazing how pretty the whole stack is once the really scary stuff gets removed. (OTOH this year’s Halloween Edition of Stacking the Shelves may be a literal nightmare!)
The prettiest cover – or at least the most beautiful in the artistic sense – has to be Edmonia. She was a sculptor, so it seems entirely fitting that the cover of even her fictional story would be beautiful. And it is.
Although The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2026, Miss Wolcott’s Ghost and The Parisian Heist are all certainly pretty in their own way. It will also be a surprise to no one that Miss Wolcott’s Ghost is the book I’m most anticipating in this week’s stack. Because Gamache. Always.
The book I’m most curious about is You’re Not Overthinking It. The cover is definitely striking, but it’s the subject that has my attention. I still play video games – I’m in the middle of the newest season of Diablo 4 right now – and I do probably overthink them more than a bit. It’s good to know I’m not alone in my (minor – probably) obsession.
The book in this stack that I’ve already read is Line of Descent. I wasn’t expecting it to be a prequel to the author’s awesome Braking Day, but it was and that made it just that much more compelling.
What’s got your attention in YOUR stack this week?

I’m not familiar with any of these books but When Lemons Give You Life sounds like it may be a profound read.
I love the twist just in that title. It makes you tilt your head and think – or at least it did me. I hope that if you get it the book works for you, too. Have a good week!

Ooh very nice! Lots of new to me reads here! The only ones I’m familiar with are Kate Golden’s! I got her latest book as well, but I told myself I need to finish reading her fantasy series before I can let myself start her new one! Lol.
Hope you enjoy all of the lovely new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Louise Penny. My mother in law loves her books. Thanks for the reminder. I’ll be checking the library.
I’m about 3/4 of the way through. It’s excellent. As ALWAYS.
