Scaredy Cat Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Scaredy Cat Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

Are you a scaredy cat when it comes to this scariest of seasons? Does the idea of doing to one of the inevitable haunted houses give you the shivers? Do you face your fears or run away from them as fast as you can?

Or is your greatest fear this season the fear of running out of candy before all the neighborhood kids have gotten their share for Halloween? Or have you planned to skip the whole thing and be elsewhere for the evening? (That second option is looking real good in this household. #sorrynotsorry

What would you do if a black cat crossed your path this Halloween season? I fully admit that I would check for a collar and see if it wanted to come home with me. Lucifer left a void in my heart in more than one way. Although Hecate, with her mostly black tortitude, makes an excellent stand in for Halloween pictures.

What would you do if a black cat crossed YOUR path this Halloween season? Would it be a bad omen or a plea for adoption? Answer in the giveaway widget (alas, poor Rafflecopter, we knew them well) for a chance at one of Reading Reality’s usual prizes, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books.

At Chez Reading Reality, the poster child for this year’s spooky season is Luna. Which would be a bit more appropriate if it were “spooked” season instead of spooky. As you can see from the picture, she’s not at all spooky, but during last week’s storm she was very, very spooked. Clearly, now that all the sturm und drang is over, she doesn’t have a care in the world – but that certainly wasn’t true just last week!

Luna is very fortunate that Halloween is NOT intended to be a fireworks holiday, but clearly we’ll be keeping a concerned eye on her at New Year’s – which absolutely is one around here. I’d say maybe she’ll be lucky and it will rain but that won’t actually help the poor little thing.

Hurricane season – even just the tail end of it that we generally get, isn’t something that Miss Luna is looking forward to this or any other year. Of course, neither are her humans, but we have a slightly better grasp of what’s actually going on. I’m not sure about getting her a thundershirt – or to be more accurate I’m not sure about getting her INTO a thundershirt – but we may try it the next time we can get enough warning of a big storm.

I am, however, definitely looking forward to the Halloween decorations. Someone in the neighborhood has a ghost on their lawn that looks like it already got ‘busted’. What are you most looking forward to – or least – this Halloween season? Answer in the rafflecopter for a chance at one of Reading Reality’s usual prizes, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books.

Scaredy Cat Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Scaredy Cat Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox!

This is my favorite hop of the year! Why? Because I have a black cat just like the one in the hop logo of my very own. Lucifer is my handsome “void” kitty, and he’s the sweetest demon in the whole wide world.

He’s learned not to be a scaredy cat in the four years since we adopted him, but he was about 6 years old when he came to us, had been living outside and had clearly had some adventures as well as having passed through a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) program at some point. He still won’t go near any of the doors of the house and has only recently decided that it’s safe to look through windows on the first floor. But he gets braver – and sweeter – every day.

Lucifer is also the perfect cat for Halloween, as he’s pure black from his shiny nose to the very tip of his fwapping tail. He likes to tease George by fwapping that tail in the younger cat’s face until George can’t resist pouncing on it!

But, as much as I love to talk about my best kitty, this is a blog hop and it’s time for me to give away something as a reward to everyone who just read through my squeeing. Fill out the rafflecopter for a chance at the usual Reading Reality prize, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 worth of books. This giveaway is open to all!
