Winter started yesterday here in the ATL and it looks like it will be over in the middle of next week. I’m joking, but not by all that much. The winters here seem to get warmer and shorter every year. Very much on the other hand, the summers are longer and hotter than Hades.

Still, climate is what you expect and weather is what you get. But it doesn’t feel like we’re getting quite the climate we used to – at least not around here.

Part of the attraction of moving to Atlanta was that we got all four seasons, but winter wasn’t all that much. And that’s the way we’d prefer it. What about you? How much winter is too much? How much is not enough? What’s just right for you?

Winter is definitely HERE and PRESENT and ACCOUNTED FOR this year. Probably more than a lot of places want. We had a real winter last weekend with actual accumulated snowfall and everything. I thought it would be, not a once in a lifetime event of course, but let’s call it a once in a school career event for the children in the neighborhood. (Cincinnati is colder than Atlanta but it doesn’t get much snow either. I only experienced ONE snow day between kindergarten and high school graduation and I was expecting the same here.)

But NO, we might get more snow next week! Once was fun, especially since it fell on a Friday and was gone by Sunday. No one wants snow on a Wednesday. But climate is what you expect and weather is what you get, so we’ll see what we get around here next week.

Anyone actually wishing FOR winter this year has probably already had all they can stand. And if they haven’t, there are plenty of places available where they can get all of it they could possibly want for the season, all in one weekend! With encores!

Personally, I have never wished FOR winter – at least not since I was no longer in a position to be hoping for snow days off from school.

Because BRRRRR! I say again. BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Mostly, I wish for winter to be over. And for there to be oodles of lovely books to read while I’m inside my cozy house drinking blissfully hot tea or cocoa with as many cats as possible crammed into my lap. Because they don’t like the cold any more than I do.

This hop kinda gives me the same vibes as last week’s Welcome Winter Giveaway Hop. Because I don’t exactly “welcome” winter. And my wish for it is to exit, stage right or left, as fast as it possibly can. My ideal weather progression would be for Fall to slide into Spring to slide into Fall again without stopping long – if at all – on those extremes called “Summer” and especially “Winter”.

BRRRRR! I say again. BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
