Sip Sip Hooray Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Sip Sip Hooray Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

The graphic for this hop does give the theme away, doesn’t it?

There are some marvelous ice cold drinks that are just made for quenching the thirst brought on by a hot summer day. For some, it’s tart, sweet, citrus-y lemonade. For others it’s the sharp bite of iced tea, whether sweet or unsweet. And there are more iconic summer images of condensation sliding down a bottle of beer as its being tipped up and swallowed down than everyone could ‘shake a stick at’ – even simultaneously.

Even a glass of plain, ordinary water tastes extra special on a hot summer day – and it’s even good for you, too!

My personal preferences are for sparkling water or unsweet tea, or, for a cold drink with a bit of a kick, hard cider. What about you?

What’s your favorite summer thirst-quencher, sweet or spiked or both or neither? Answer below for a chance at the usual prize, the winner’s choice a $10 Amazon Gift Card or up to $10 in Books.

Sparkle Time Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Sparkle Time Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

This hop is always right before the Fourth of July, and that’s always an interesting time at Chez Reading Reality even if it isn’t always sparkly. This year, as in previous years, this hop is happening just after we’ve returned from the American Library Association Annual Conference – which was in Chicago this year just as the heat wave descended. (or ascended depending on perspective. The temperatures rose suddenly as we were leaving.) Three years ago, we came home from conference with the plague. Two years ago, we didn’t yet know whether we’d contracted “con crud” or not. (We didn’t). Last year we escaped unscathed. This year, so far, so good, but one of our cars may have given up the ghost on the way TO the airport. So this time around it’s the car’s diagnosis we’re dreading instead of our own.

But we are looking forward to the July 4th holiday this weekend even if the cats are mostly NOT. Or wouldn’t be if they knew. This particular cat clowder is not fond of fireworks, although Hecate’s give-a-damn seems to be utterly busted on most subjects and this one is no exception. Still, they haven’t yet forgiven us for being away and the fireworks are not going to help!

While no one in this house is particularly looking forward to the random booms every night this weekend, we certainly are looking forward to the holiday – even if that means more time reading while staying inside where it’s air conditioned.

What about you? What are your go-tos for keeping cool during the hot months to come?

Summer 2026 Seasons of Books Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Summer 2026 Seasons of Books Giveaway Hop, hosted by It Starts At Midnight and Versatileer!

Once upon a time, this was the Month of Books Giveaway Hop, now it’s the Seasons of Books Giveaway Hop, with the hops starting on the days the seasons change. Yesterday, June 21, was the first official day of SUMMER for the 2026 season. But today, Monday, seems like a good day to start a fun thing to lighten the Monday blahs. So here we are.

These last few weeks of Spring in the ATL have been WET. Gloomy and WET. A lot like last year’s late spring. And the cats have been just as unthrilled about the whole thing as they were this time last year. I know we probably need the rain, but that doesn’t mean we need or even can use all of it at once!

This hop has always been terrific, whatever season it occurs. But that doesn’t mean that the hop image has matched my particular reading tastes in quite some time. Which is just fine. There’s a book for every reader and a reader for every book and they’re not either one the same all the time.

So here are the books I’m looking forward to the most this summer of 2026:

Brimstone Hollow by Archer Sullivan
Daggerbound by T. Kingfisher
A Deadly Entanglement by Cathy Pegau
Enter the Nightmare by Jayne Castle
Green City Wars by Adrian Tchaikovsky
The Silver Hand by Shawn Carpenter
The Tailor by Tim Sullivan
A Trade of Blood by Robert Jackson Bennett
Unpredictable Magic by Faith Hunter
Wickhills by Premee Mohamed

What about you? What books are you most looking forward to this season. Answer in the widget for your choice of either a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books so you can get one or two of the books on your list!

Dad-O-Mite Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Dad-O-Mite Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

Father’s Day is this coming Sunday, June 21st, in the U.S. as well as a whole host of other countries. (Which feels a bit late this year but that’s the way the calendar rolls.) In honor of that day, this blog hop celebrates dads of all kinds everywhere, whether bio-dads, adoptive dads, foster dads, dads of choice, pet dads and every kind of dad, granddad and father figure out there who is loved by their children, whether those children are little, or big, or have four feet or fur or feathers or scales, or any combination of the above.

We all need someone to fill that role in our lives. We’re not all lucky enough to get such a person. If you have one, and yours is still around, give them an extra hug for those who never did or no longer do.

For more dad-worthy prizes, and maybe a few more dad jokes, be sure to visit the other stops on this hop!

Berry Good Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Berry Good Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

It’s SUMMER, isn’t it? I mean really, even if it TECHNICALLY isn’t, it IS. Post-Memorial Day (even if that felt early this year) means SUMMER.

I decided to get more information about berries, so I went to Wikipedia. Now I’m confused. Not all the fruits we think of as berries are berries in the technical, botanical sense, even though they are in the less technical but much more delicious culinary sense. And there are a whole bunch of fruits that we don’t think of as berries that actually are, botanically, berries.

Watermelons – a summer tradition – are technically “giant berries”. So are pumpkins which just made my brain go ’tilt’. OTOH, blackberries (my favorite breakfast berry), along with strawberries and raspberries, are technically aggregate fruits and not berries at all. Except in the culinary sense.

Whether or not the technicalities make YOUR brain go tilt as well, tell us your favorite berry flavor (from that yummy culinary perspective) in the giveaway widget for your chance at Reading Reality’s usual hop prize, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in Books!

And if  you’re looking for more ‘berry good’ June prizes, be sure to visit the other stops on this hop!

Come What May Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Come What May Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

This is the hop where the theme is open to a whole lot of temptation. Because that’s what the whole “Come What May” title implies. Anything could be coming this month – and a lot of things already are! Or, at least, could be.

There’s Cinco de Mayo coming on, of course, May 5. Mother’s Day is coming too, this year it’s on May 10 in the U.S. – and a LOT of other countries. Many countries have a day to celebrate mothers, but the dates vary from early February to late December around the world. (Mothering Sunday is celebrated in Britain and Ireland in March, but most of the current/former Commonwealth countries celebrate Mother’s Day the same day as we do here, officially the second Sunday of May.)

But May isn’t just filled with official holidays. There’s “May the 4th Be With You”, the unofficial but widely commemorated Star Wars themed punny holiday. And any number of songs about both the month of May (My favorite is still “The Lusty Month of May”, the song from the play (and movie) Camelot. And of course there are songs with the same concept as the hop theme, including “Come What May” from Moulin Rouge.

Whichever of the above idea tickle your fancy or your funny bone, there’s one May concept that I hope absolutely does not come your way this may. I hope you experience absolutely zero MAYDAYs in your month, or any month at all.

What do you first think of when May pops into your mind? Answer in the widget for your chance at Reading Reality’s usual hop prize, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in Books!

If you’re looking for more May prizes to come YOUR way, be sure to visit the other stops on this hop!

Rain Drops on Roses Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Rain Drops on Roses Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

This hop gives me an earworm every single year.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittensBright copper kettles and warm woolen mittensBrown paper packages tied up with stringsThese are a few of my favorite things…

Of course, the words are from “My Favorite Things”, one of many memorable songs in The Sound of Music. Now that I’ve passed the earworm on to you, hopefully it will leave me alone for another year!

But you shouldn’t feel like you’re “suffering” from that persistent tune in your head, as it’s the theme of this giveaway hop! As per usual, I’m giving away the usual Reading Reality hop prize of the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books. All you have to do is tell us what one of YOUR favorite things might be!

For a few more chances at one of everyone’s favorite things – PRIZES – be sure to visit the other stops on this hop!

Honey Bunny Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Honey Bunny Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox and Mom Does Reviews!

Today is also April Fools’ Day, but there’s nothing fooling about this hop!

However, the ‘timely’ proximity of April Fools’ Day and Easter DOES give me the annual opportunity to use this hop to talk about Easter Candy. Because chocolate is ALWAYS an excellent thing to talk about no matter the season!

According to The Food Network’s 2026 round-up of the best Easter candy for THIS Easter, Reese’s Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Eggs take first prize, with Cadbury Milk Chocolate Mini Eggs, Peeps Easter Marshmallow Chicks, Kit Kat Milk Chocolate Wafer Bunnies, Lindt Milk Chocolate Gold Bunnies and Sour Patch Kids Easter Bunnies rounding out the pack. So to speak.

Comparing this list to some of the lists of the ‘Most Popular’ Easter candies for this year, there’s a noticeable similarity. Leading me to wonder just how rigorous the testing was. Particularly as there isn’t a dark chocolate option in the hutch. Or clutch. Or basket. IMHO chocolate isn’t worth the calories unless it’s dark chocolate, but to each their own as that old saying goes.

Whatever your taste in Easter candy, or chocolate in general, might be, the winner of this hop here at Reading Reality will receive their choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books. Enough to buy something sweet in one form or another!

For more hopping good prizes, be sure to hop on over to the other stops on this hop!
