Life’s a Beach Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the third annual Life’s a Beach Giveaway Hop, hosted by The Kids Did It and The Mommy Island.

it is now time for that great summer question – what on earth is a beach read? And how many of them can I cram into my summer?

Everyone has a different idea of what constitutes a good beach read. Based on the annual lists of “best beach reads” and the places one finds such lists, one might believe that there’s a lot of light fluffy reading involved. While you’re baking in the sun, a heavy book just doesn’t seem like the thing.

Although something that puts a chill up your spine on a steamy hot day might be just the ticket. Whatever floats your boat – especially if you are actually floating in a boat!

So here’s your chance to win either a $10 Amazon Gift Card or a $10 Book from the Book Depository – so that you can get started on your own beach reads, no matter where you actually plan to read them.

  1. Oh goodness, I wouldn’t even know.. I’m usually too busy keeping an eye on the littles to read at the beach.lol

  2. I wouldn’t read at the beach, if I ever went there (went only once when I was little), but a relaxing read for me is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

  3. Any fiction, really. Reading Part I of War and Peace on the beach may not have been the best idea, though. I got sunburned, which is unusual for my skintone.

  4. I don’t really have a favorite “beach” read, but my favorite book at the moment is Traitor Born by Amy A Bartol.

  5. I don’t really have a favorite beach read. It would be whatever book I happen upon in my library.

  6. Thanks for the giveaway; anything with mermaids is my kind of beach read. 🙂

  7. i love to read alice in wonderland on the beach.. so many possibilities!

  8. I love the water, but am too photosensitive to hang out on the beach (or anywhere outdoors). But, just for lolling around on a summer day? A good mystery would be perfect.

  9. Can’t say I have ever read a book on the beach. I’m too busy with every thing else around me.

  10. I cant pick a favorite! I love to read anything anywhere! thank you for the chance!

  11. Reading is reading to me…I don’t have particular genres that I read while at the pool/beach and I’m not a genre snob so pretty much anything goes.

Except horror. No horror. Plus, that doesn’t sound very beachy and relaxing.

  12. When I’m at the beach I always have littles with me . My beach read usually has a lot of brightly colored pictures and not very many big words. LOL!

  13. I usually turn to the latest from Janet Evanovich or Sue Grafton or Kathy Reichs or Tess Gerritsen as my go-to beach read.

  14. Summer Sisters by Judy Blume and The Last Summer of You and Me by Ann Brashares are two of my favorites.

  15. I always like to read something about pirates or something like a Nicolas Sparks book when I’m at the beach! Fun and festive!

  16. I don’t have a particular one, but something light and easy, fiction preferably. 🙂

  17. My favorite beach read is any book by Mina V. Esguerra. She has a new book coming out (What Kind of Day), so that’s the next book I’m reading. 🙂

  18. I like to read mysteries at the beach. I don’t have a specific one that’s my current favorite right now though.

  19. I like to read thrillers and horror at the beach because then I get less scared!

  20. My idea of a good “beach read” is a collection of funny essays– I love creative nonfiction. 🙂

  21. I read just about anything. A beach read is just whatever catches my fancy at the moment.

  22. I enjoy science fiction books, but usually don’t have time to read much.

  24. I love a good true crime book on the beach!!! Thanks for the giveaway!

  25. When someone says beach read, I always think of Wendy Wax’s Ten Beach Road. I really enjoyed that book.

  26. My favorite genre is romance (every sun-genre of romance and every heat level from none to spicy.) I like to save the sweet and clean ones for reading in public though. I don’t want to either cry or blush while reading in public lol 🙂

  27. Im not really sure. I like any book that can captivate my attention. And I love the beach even though it has been many many years since i have been there

  28. I like light, short reads for the beach. Or anything by Nicholas Sparks.

  29. probably a tween book my daughter wants me to read to her i hope its harry potter

  31. My favorite beach read is any book with a happy ending.
    Thanks for the contest.

  32. I either like light, fast-reading books such as those by Sophie Kinsella, or I go with tried and true because I know I will enjoy it such as Georgette Heyer.

  41. Something light, preferably humorous, that doesn’t require a lot of thought or attention.

  42. I couldn’t read at the beach. If I could it would probably be Love Story.

  43. My favorite kind of beach read is a guilty pleasure book, any book by Jackie Collins such as Hollywood Wives or Hollywood Husbands is fun.

  44. I love horror, thriller or shark books. I don’t know why the beach brings out all these creatures for me!

  45. Mommy and Daddy hugged the twins as a result of it was getting time to get
to bed. ?Mommy thinks the very best thing about God is he gave me these two little rascals and they are the
perfect thing in Mommy?s world.? She stated cuddling and tickling both boys.
That was the kind of thing mommies all the time say.
The giggled and hugged Mommy and have been nearly able to go
to their bunk beds when Lee said.
