Christmas in July Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Christmas in July Giveaway Hop, hosted by Bookhounds!

What do you think of the whole Xmas in July idea? I don’t celebrate Xmas, so to me the whole idea of doing it in July too feels rather blatantly commercial. Potentially a whole lot of fun, but if there’s any holiday that feels like a “Hallmark holiday” instead of a real one, this is probably it.Β  That Amazon has ganged onto for their Prime Day in July promotions just adds to that impression.

Although there is something ironic – at least here in the Northern Hemisphere – about celebrating a holiday that is normally accompanied by chilly weather and even snow at a time of the year when we’re more likely to be getting record-setting high temperatures than even a cool breeze.

Still, any chance to give or get presents is probably a good one. Hence this giveaway hop, and my usual rafflecopter giveaway of the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Certificate or a $10 Book from the Book Depository. This giveaway is open to anywhere the Book Depository ships.

  1. I love this idea. I am watching Christmas movies as we speak. I love Christmas!

  2. I like it, with 5 kids it gets me started and I need starting early watching for the sales.

  3. I enjoy it–especially because I get to watch many of the Christmas movies I enjoy in the summer!

  4. I think we have enough of Christmas since they put things out so early beforehand that we don’t need it in July also.

  5. I like it. I have been looking through my wishlist on Amazon for Prime Day looking for Christmas present ideas.

  6. I like Christmas in July. I find all kinds of goodies that I like for presents…so I can treat myself to some stuff that I really like and want!

  7. I think of it more as back to school shopping time, rather than Christmas in July.

  8. Having worked in retail (way) back when I was young, I’ve always just viewed it as a way to generate interest during a slump period. Linking it to Christmas doesn’t bother me. As a customer, I like the opportunity to find early sales, even if most of my purchases end up being for me!

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  9. I thought it was a little weird when I saw Hallmark is airing a bunch of Christmas movies in July, definitely not the time of year I’m in the mood for them, but if it brings a little mid-year cheer to someone else watching them, that’s a good thing.

  10. I think it’s a fun idea. Especially for families with little kids. You can turn it into a family event and even give presents to unsuspecting people/friends/family/strangers. Impress upon kids the idea of giving all year around.

  11. I love Christmas in July because it gives me a taste of my favorite holiday!

  12. Waiting 12 months for such a fantastic holiday as Christmas is hard. Having a Christmas in July makes the wait not feel as hard a feat to manage. πŸ™‚

  14. It would be to hot to do like I usually do with shopping and decorating at my age.

  15. Sure, as long as it’s fun. Christmas in December is too stressful.

  16. Every year I think “what a great idea.” I intend to start early. I craft a lot of my Christmas decorations and gifts. Nonetheless, I think I have loads of time. Every December I’m scrambling.

  17. I never minded it – it isn’t like everyone’s breaking out their decorations or the like, so it’s cool.

  18. I think Christmas is better in December – doesn’t feel like Christmas when it’s 100 degrees.

  19. I find it a bit strange, but for christmas craft projects it’s good to get an early start.

  20. Christmas in July has always been extra fun to have during the year? Santa in a Hawaiian outfit sipping a piΓ±a colada!? I mean, come on!!! It is awesome, and more presents and celebration is certainly not terrible!!!

  21. I like the idea of Christmas in July so I can take advantage of all the great sales prices!

  24. Not a fan of Christmas in July. I don’t even like Christmas in December so why do it more than once.

  25. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but I am not sure I could handle two different ones!!!!

  26. It’s a bit confusing. But I’ll welcome it for the chance to win a few items to treat myself πŸ™‚

  27. It’s fun to dream of snow when the temperature outside is pushing 100. Also, the world could use peace and goodwill toward men year-round, not just in July or at Christmas.

  28. I like the reminder that the hot summer weather will eventually end!
    Thanks for the giveaway!
