Oh! the Places You’ll Go! Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the fourth annual Oh! the Places You’ll Go Giveaway Hop, hosted by The Kids Did It and The Mommy Island.

The theme of this hop is back to school. It’s something that seems both appropriate and not. Let me explain…

The schools here went back yesterday, August 5. That just seems OMG incredibly early. (They also get out in May, so it does all work out.)

But, but, but…I remember going back to school a month from now – just after Labor Day. Then again, I remember that schools mostly weren’t air conditioned back in the dark ages when I went, so they had to close during the heat of the summer. Cincy doesn’t get quite as hot as Atlanta – but it does get plenty hot in July and August. The last days in June and the first days in September could be fairly beastly even with that schedule.

When someone says “back to school” when does that make you think of? Answer in the rafflecopter for your chance at your choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or a $10 Book from the Book Depository.

  1. For me it was always September, but I’ve since moved south and now my kids start in August.

  2. September month, also makes me think of bulletproof ballistic backpack sales on the rise in the US.

  3. January! We started at the beginning of the year, and only when I read Harry Potter did I realise other people started in different parts of the year.

  4. “When someone says “back to school” what month does that make you think of?” Late August/early September!

  5. I usually think of August because we always started in August when I taught public school. We always start back homeschooling by September at the latest now.

  6. It makes me think of February because I live in New Zealand and the kids go back to school in february after having 6 weeks off at Christmas for summer holidays.

  7. When someone says “back to school” what month does that make you think of?

    not month….fall and winter

  8. June. Because I am so ready by the end of June for my beautiful, sweet, overly-energetic daughter to go back to school!

  9. September – Growing up, there was a state law that said that school couldn’t start before Labor Day. I don’t think that law exists anymore but most schools around here don’t start until the day after Labor Day.

  10. It was always after labor day at the schools I attended, I can’t imagine having spend August in a classroom rather than being out in the sunshine, I definitely would not have been a fan of it.

  11. When someone says “Back to school” I always think of September because that’s when our schools start.

  12. First it makes me think that I hope for many successes second it makes me think about the tools that my family’s loved will need to succeed. That is really so important I think.

  13. Back to school always makes me think of August even though my son doesn’t go back to school until September.

  20. It makes me think of August because that’s when I went back to school. But my kids go back in September!

  21. First thought is August, because I would do all my back-to-school shopping then 🙂 Second thought is September, because that’s when school would actually start for me again! It’s been a while but I still feel nostalgic whenever I see the adds for the school supplies!

  22. It makes me think of September, because that’s when I went back to school – usually the day after Labor Day.
