Let It Snow Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Let It Snow Giveaway Hop, hosted by  The Mommy Island & The Kids Did It!

Here we are at the second giveaway hop for the month and we already have another earworm! (There’s one more hop coming this month and I’m VERY happy to say that it won’t be poking me in the ear or brain afterwards, as two songs stuck in my head are definitely enough!)

The song this time around, the holiday favorite “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” was so irresistible that it was recorded by not just one but two members of the Rat Pack back in the day – Frank Sinatra in 1950 and Dean Martin in 1959, as well as Jessica Simpson in 2004, the cast of Glee in 2011 and Michael Bublé in 2021. The song has clearly been around and gotten around.

Which isn’t really a surprise because it’s a light and bubbly little song and has the virtue of being utterly non-denominational while still managing to be totally associated with Christmas at the same time. Which makes a great deal of sense, as it was written in July in 1945 during a heat wave, in an attempt by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne to imagine being somewhere considerably cooler than they actually were.

It’s what humans do, after all, wish that it were warm when we’re cold, wish that it was cool when we’re warm. It’s kind of why we ended up in Atlanta. We’re just far enough north to experience all four seasons, but the winters usually JUST get cold enough to remind us why we’re happy not to get the full experience of the season that we did in Anchorage and Chicago.

And everyone is usually pretty happy to see the rare snowfall here, because it stays just long enough to look pretty – and then it’s gone!

What about you? Are you happy to “let it snow”? Or would you rather “let it go” and be someplace sunny?

Tell us how you feel for a chance at our usual holiday prize – and all year ’round – the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books.

Happy Holidays!

  1. I love the snow during this time of year. I love the seasons of the year and could not live in a place where it is the same all year long.

  2. I could enjoy the snow for a day or two then it’s warm and sunny for me for the duration. Thanks

  3. I like a little bit of snow. After that, though, I’d prefer moderate temperatures and sun.

  4. There’s honestly nothing better than being snuggled up with a boozy hot chocolate and a
good book, so I’d pick snow.

  5. I already live in the Sunshine state. I would love to see and play in snow, but I am glad that I don’t have to endure cold winters.

  6. If I don’t have to leave the house, then I’m fine with snow, otherwise I definitely prefer warm and sunny.

  7. I personally love looking at the pretty snow, but I don’t love dealing with the chill weather and icy road conditions. Eventually, I plan to move south. So I am going to say go somewhere warm and sunny!

  8. I love warm and sunny because we can swim and go to the beach! We only get snow here every few years, but its fun then too!

  9. The further North, the better! Grand Marais Michigan is breathtakingly stunning in Winter months.

  10. We’ve barely had any snow here in Michigan, none that has stuck anyways. I love the warmer weather but this winter hasn’t been too bad so far.

  11. Given the choice, I would rather sit back and enjoy the snow. There’s something truly magical about a winter landscape blanketed in snow – it’s like stepping into a serene, peaceful world. I love the quietness that comes with a snowy day, the way it muffles sounds and creates a sense of calm. There’s also the joy of watching snowflakes fall, each one unique and beautiful. Cozying up with a warm blanket, a good book, and a hot cup of cocoa while watching the snow outside is my idea of a perfect winter day. It’s a time to slow down, relax, and appreciate the beauty of the season.

  12. I’ve done both and both are nice, I think you need a balance, a little of each! I love the tradition of snow and the ideal Christmas but it’s really nice to break it up every so many years and sit on that beach!

  13. At the beginning of winter, I’m happy to sit back and enjoy the snow (as long as I’m warm and toasty inside!) After a few months of it, however, I would much rather jet off somewhere tropical and leave the frozen nonsense behind!

  14. I would enjoy the snow. There’s a reason I’m pale as a ghost. I hate the heat and sun.

  15. I’m okay staying in a nice warm house with my sweet hubby. Thanks and God Bless!
