Welcome to the Black Friday Book Bonanza, hosted by BookShelfery and the Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

I don’t know about you, but I would much rather let my fingers do the walking through the internet instead of waiting in those body-crushing crowds for Black Friday specials. I like my toesies firmly attached (all the better for the cats to nibble on them!) and there is much more available online than in any mall. I try to avoid the malls until after the holiday. I do occasionally like to shop, but I don’t like following people in parking lots like a vulture, hoping against hope that they are heading for a car and ready to leave the mall. Also hoping I can beat whatever fellow parking space searching is zooming in from the other direction.

My personal theory is that all shopping mall parking lots are designed on the Hotel California principle. “You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave!”

I still want a car like George Jetson‘s, that compresses into a briefcase at the push of a button!

  3. I’m starting to get into Gift Cards. They used to be a pain when they had expiry dates, but now that I have all the time I need, I love being able to make the decision of what to get with it.

  4. I love giving homemade gifts in a jar, usually cookie mixes or bread mixes. I try to make enough for everyone at our church every year.

  8. I love giving (and getting) gift cards to shops. It’s difficult to buy the exact items the others want so I give the money so they can choose themselves what they want to buy.

  24. I like buying my kids who are teenagers silly gifts . Last year I got my 15 year old some playdough and she loved it. I like that they never know what to expect.

  25. My favorite gift is the one I give my brother. He is the only one in my family that reads like I do (voraciously and over several genres) and he’s terrible at finding new authors or books to read so every year I create a list of books he might like and put it into his stocking. He loves it and it is fun to do.

  37. I have to say money. With everyone older now, it’s the best way to brighten someone’s day and allow them to go get that one thing they’ve been wanting.

  41. I like to give and receive “scents” i.e. Bath and Body products, body oils, perfume, bath salts, candles … — anything scented.

As a book reviewer and a library assistant, I love to find books for people that I think they will love šŸ™‚ This is pretty difficult for me because none of the people in my life really are big readers šŸ˜› But really I just like giving people gifts. I love choosing things I think will bring them joy!

  86. I really enjoy getting gifts from one of my aunts. She always finds these random Wizard of Oz themed presents. For example, one year I got Glinda’s and the Wicked Witch’s hats which were a salt and pepper shaker set. It’s cheesy, but it’s nice to know she tries to look for something for me.

  87. I prefer to get gift cards. People tend to have a hard time shopping for me, so it seems to work best that way. Bubble bath is a good gift too.

  88. I love to give drawings I drew to people either of them or their pet and I love to receive gift cards!

  90. I mostly give gift cards to my family members so they can choose what they want/need. If they’re strapped for cash, they can use the cards to help with their own gift-giving (which is why I try to give them a bit early). I tend to give more personalized gifts to family and coworkers, but I try not to give things just for the sake of giving something. Let’s face it, most people don’t want or need more “stuff”; there are only so many Santa candy dishes you can use in a lifetime. šŸ™‚

  99. I love getting books and Amazon gift cards. I love to give books when I can. Otherwise, I do the best to figure out what a person might like or give them a gift card.

  121. I love getting the unexpected like a cool pair of ear rings or fun socks or a good book. Gift cards are nice but many times I end up using them on boring things like groceries or cat supplies.

  122. I try to get something that perfectly “fits” the person I’m buying the gift for. I tend to get a lot of Amazon Gift Cards, because I buy a LOT if books, and everyone has a hard time keeping up with by TBR of the moment.
