Midsummer’s Eve Giveaway Hop

midsummer eve hop

Welcome to the 2016 edition of the Midsummer’s Eve Giveaway Hop, hosted by BookHounds.

I checked out the Google Doodles for today. While it is the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the Winter Solstice south of the equator. Looking at the two doodles, those poor rocks are obviously way happier being up north today. On December 20, I’m sure it will be the other way around.

Rocky summer from Google Doodles

The winter version shows those poor rocks blinking and shivering under a blanket of snow!

But whether you are basking in the sun or shivering in the winter chill, a good book or two always helps to wile away the hours.

For my part in this Midsummer’s Eve Giveaway Hop, I’m giving away the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon or B&N Gift Card or a $10 Book from the Book Depository. This giveaway is open to all!

  1. I hate the heat lol (I get uncomfortably hot in mild temps lol). To stay cool I use a fan, drink lots of cold water and juice and stay out of the sun

  2. No sun for me. Ever. But to beat the heat, I use a water spray bottle, a fan, and ice cold water to drink. Or some lovely unsweetened iced tea.

  3. I love turning the aircon on during those hot summer days and staying in to enjoy a great book!

  4. thanks for this awesome giveaway…and for the hop :-)the beach is the best place to spend summer 🙂

  5. It’s winter in South Africa, but I am in Indonesia at the moment and on the equator so it’s summer all year round. The best way to keep cool is sitting on the steps of the swimming pool – the only way to safely keep cool and read in the pool!

  6. To stay cool I drink lots of cold water. I have a glass sitting next to me and I take my water bottle everywhere, even if I’m only going to be gone for 10 minutes lol.

  7. Three things I need to stay cool aside from going to the cold springs or beaches are Water. Ice Cream. Frapp. 😄

  8. My favorite way to stay cool on a hot summer’s day is by wearing a hat and having a sprayer mist bottle with me!

  9. My favorite is to stay in the house with the air conditioner going and read, read, read.

  10. My daughters and granddaughter got the sprinkler out and filled up the baby pool. Played outside with the granddaughter until she was tired and then had watermelon fruit chillers (non-alcoholic)

  11. I am definitely not a hot-weather kind of person, and those scorching-hot summer days can make me just miserable. I try to stay cool by staying in the shade when I’m outside, and waiting until the after the temperature has peaked to do any kind of outdoor work (e.g., gardening, mowing the lawn). I also drink lots of water (as I do year ’round). And just last year I started making my own popsicles. (Woohoo!)

  12. A nice day out on the boat or sitting by the pool. Of course, sipping on a nice cold drink and reading a book.

  13. Stay inside in the ground floor because there is a bigger cold then inside because of our walls 🙂 Our dog loves it too – and she love to lying on the tiles.

  14. I will get one of my books and a nice cold drink and get on my back patio and read away!!

  15. I like to sit under the umbrella in a comfy chair and dip my feet in the kiddie (my dogs) pool.

  16. Cold drinks, stay in the shade and if in the house have a fan on and the windows open but to be honest we don’t get enough warm weather here in the UK.

  17. To stay inside in the cool with a good book and a cold sweet tea!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  18. My country is near the equator so hot summer days are really, really hot. On those days, I just stay inside where there’s airconditioning. 😁

  19. I make sure to hog the shade and if I’m sitting outside on my deck, I use a portable fan to keep air blowing over me.

  20. A large iced mocha with 4 shots of espresso is my favorite way to stay cool in the heat of summer :).

  21. My favorite way to stay cool on a hot summer’s day is to have a cold shower, then sit in front of the fan with a ice cold bottle of water to drink.

  22. Love it if I can swim, but if that is not possible then inside in a good A/C!!! And either one with a good book!!!!

  23. I go over to my grandparents’ house. They live partially in the woods, so their house is usually ten degrees cooler than my house.

  24. Ice creams and cold drinks. If its really hot a swimming pool or sprinkler. Thanks for the giveaway!

  25. Honestly being indoors with the airconditioning on. But going to the beach is also fun as long as its only occasionally.

  26. Staying inside in the a/c! I live in Florida, with the heat index it feels like over 100 degrees outside!

  27. It rains often here during the summer so I don’t have to think hard about how to stay cool.

  28. My daughter and I stay cool by running through the sprinkler a few times! Cools us right down! 🙂

  29. From April though October, I wear sundresses and sandals to stay cool. And, I drink lots of water.

  30. stay in air conditioned room or eat lots of ice cream and drink lots of chilled beverages

  31. It is windy where I live so staying in the shade helps keep you cool. I also like a cold glass of ice tea.

  32. The two best ways to stay cool this time of year is by going swimming and enjoying ice cream.
