Dashing Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Dashing Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox!

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight

It’s time for Jingle Bells, and every other holiday song ever sung. Admittedly, the only bells we hear jingling around here are the ones that are attached to the cats’ toys. Especially when they bring them to bed with us. Although the original Jingle Bells song seems to have way more verses than I thought. That first verse, quoted above, is the one that most everyone remembers.

And did you know that it wasn’t intended as an Xmas song? It was originally supposed to refer to Thanksgiving! But all that snow just makes it seem like it refers to a time a bit later in the year.

Just to jingle some bells for you, I’m giving away my usual prize in this giveaway hop; the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or a book up to $10 in value from the Book Depository. So fill out the rafflecopter for a chance at making a few bells jingle of your very own!

  1. The 1984 movie version starring George C. Scott is my favorite A Christmas Carol, but I also love Bill Murray’s Scrooged and the Mr. MaGoo versions as well

  2. I like the original black and white version, but my son prefers the Muppets Christmas Carol, even though he’s now in his thirties.

  3. So funny. WE have been watching a bunch of TV inspired Dicken’s stories. He was a master. In terms of the question… I LOVE the muppets version. I am related to John Denver so it has always been a family favorite. It makes me smile to see him on the screen.

  4. Wow.. that’s a hard question, I guess my favorite version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is the Cd version by Greg Weiss I listen to in my car as I hustle on my 2 jobs!

  5. I don’t remember seeing any of the ones mentioned here so I don’t have a favorite.
    Thanks for the contest.

  6. I love the Muppets version but have a soft spot in my heart for the Doctor Who inspired episode too!

  7. I have never seen or read any version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, lol. Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. I like the version with Alastair Sim as it’s black and white which was the way a lot of films were made back in the ’50s. 🙂

  9. I like the muppets version. The songs are good and I like the ghost that looks like a little girl.

  10. I didn’t know that there were so manu versions, guess I’ll have to get to know them better so I can choose a favorite.

  11. My favorite one is the Disney one… where Scrooge is played by Donald Duck. I haven’t seen in it years, but I think my kids would like that one too if I can find it!

  12. Probably the Muppets are really cute and of course the Disney one so that’s hard to say but probably the Muppets.

  13. There’s an episode of the sitcom A Different World where Whitley is Scrooge that’s really a fun take on the story.

  14. Well, the book of course. If we are talking about movies it would be the 1984 version with George C. Scott.

  15. I love the Muppets version. That’s part of our holiday movie line up a couple of times a week!
